2020-2021 Season Postponed

Heartfelt thanks to you for helping us grow the George M. Ewing Canandaigua Forum into a regional attraction! Our 9th Season was a tremendous success, and proved that the Forum is a Sunday afternoon destination for people from all over the Finger Lakes and beyond.

Our next season will be our 10th Anniversary, and we had planned to celebrate our success this fall with another lineup of exemplary guests. Clearly, though, this is not the year for a celebration of this kind. The coronavirus pandemic has brought life as we knew it to a grinding halt, and many people are suffering.

The uncertainties for next fall and winter are too great for us to make the financial commitments that are necessary for our events to happen. And the responsible course of action – to protect the health of our community and to limit the spread of this virus – is to close the doors on our programs for a year. We are going to delay our 10th Anniversary season until the fall of 2021.

The good news is that we were able to reschedule the speakers we had already recruited:

  • September 19, 2021: Amy Walter of the Cook Political Report and PBS NewsHour;
  • October 17, 2021: Professors and political consultants Mike Murphy [Republican] and Bob Shrum [Democrat] from the Center for the Political Future at the University of Southern California;
  • November 7, 2021: Dava Newman, MIT Apollo Program Professor of Aeronautics, former NASA Deputy Administrator, and inventor of the BioSuit planetary spacesuit;
  • January 30, 2022: Adam Frank, University of Rochester Professor of Physics and Astronomy, NPR All Things Considered commentator and science consultant for Marvel’s Dr. Strange.

We are grateful for the support you have given us in the past and look forward to your continued support in the future. We are not soliciting sponsorships and donations at this time. Instead, we hope you will consider supporting any of the many organizations that help those in our community who are most in need of assistance.

We look forward to seeing you in September 2021 when we return to the stage at FLCC for what promises to be a great 10th Anniversary season.

With best wishes for your good health,
Meg Reed
