When burgeoning doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers enter the workforce, they are seeking to fulfill their mission to care for their fellow citizens. But has their education optimally prepared them to care for all Americans equitably?
Medical student and science educator Joel Bervell helps us to understand how the United States’ social and political history has embedded itself in fascinating and often invisible ways within medical education and how that impacts the current care of our most vulnerable populations. Bervell also shares his creative use of social media as an educational platform for sharing information on racial disparities and informing on biases in healthcare and other industries.
